The Macallan Fifties Highland Single Malt Scotch Whisky
- Low stock - 1 item left
The Macallan Fifties is a re-creation of the 1950s style of The Macallan, bottled at 40% in a 500ml format. The Master Distiller sampled bottles from the decade and matched their aroma and flavour with more recent distillations from casks maturing in the distillery’s warehouses. The result is a deep mahogany Highland single malt with strong sherry, dried fruits and resinous spice, as rich and spicy as modern day Macallan but with a hint of peat smoke.
The Macallan Fifties Tasting Notes
Nose: Rich resinous dried fruits, spiced ginger and cloves with good wood. Subtle toffee sweetness and rich citrus aromas with a hint of peat smoke.
Palate: Rich aged Macallan with strong sherry, resinous spice, dried fruits, and a touch of nuttiness, toffee and wood.
Finish: Rich and spicy with a touch of smoke.
Why Choose The Macallan Fifties Highland Single Malt Scotch Whisky?
The Fifties is the closest of the three to the Macallan most drinkers know: sherried, spiced and dark in the glass, with peat reduced to a hint.
What makes The Macallan Fifties different from the Thirties and Forties?
The label explains the change. Spanish oak sherry casks became available again following the disruption of the Second World War, which allowed The Macallan to revert to using only first and second fill casks. The result is a whisky as rich and spicy as modern day Macallan, but with a hint of peat smoke.
