Three Chapters, One Circle: The Macallan Time : Space Collection
The Macallan TIME : SPACE Collection marks the distillery's 200th anniversary through three whiskies, released in two stages: two in September 2024 and a third in September 2026. Each is built around a different argument for what two centuries of cask mastery means, and all three share a circular vessel design inspired by the idea that whisky-making is a cycle, not a straight line.
The First Chapter: TIME : SPACE
The Macallan TIME : SPACE launched in September 2024 as a dual-chamber vessel holding two whiskies. The outer chamber holds a single malt distilled in 1940 and released at 84 years old, the oldest whisky The Macallan has ever released. The central chamber holds a five-year-old from 2018, the first whisky produced at Macallan's new distillery. Only 200 were made, one for each year of Macallan's history, and they were offered by invitation only.
The Second Chapter: TIME : SPACE Mastery
The Macallan TIME : SPACE Mastery debuted alongside it in September 2024. It carries no age statement and is bottled at 43.6% ABV. It is a vatting of roughly fourteen cask types, chosen to capture differences in oak origin, seasoning and cask size. It was offered through The Macallan Society ballot and directly from Macallan, subject to availability. Where the first chapter told a story about time, Mastery told one about craft. The Third Chapter: TIME : SPACE Sherry Cask
The Macallan TIME : SPACE Sherry Cask launched on 17 September 2026. It is a 20-year-old single malt Scotch whisky, natural colour, bottled at 44.8% ABV. It matured first in predominantly European oak sherry-seasoned casks on The Macallan Estate in Speyside. It was then married in a small batch from the first 200 casks seasoned at Macallan's Valdespino bodega in Jerez de la Frontera, filled in 2024 during the anniversary year.
It is the first Macallan whisky influenced by casks seasoned with Macallan's own Valdespino sherry. In 2023, Macallan's parent company Edrington took a 50% stake in Grupo Estévez, the Jerez group that owns Valdespino. It went on to buy the Vasyma cooperage outright and join ventures in oak supply in Spain and the United States.
The nose carries sherry-soaked raisins, fig and Medjool date, with frangipane and dark chocolate truffles beneath. The palate moves through dried fruits, rich ginger cake and treacle toffee. The finish is warming spice, a hint of espresso and gentle oak.
Sherry cask supply has tightened across the industry for years. Macallan's answer was to invest across the supply chain, from bodega to cooperage to timber. Sherry Cask is the first bottled evidence of that investment. We will soon be stocking the TIME : SPACE Sherry Cask at Whisky Estate.

Three releases, three different answers to the same question. The dual-chamber vessel argues through pairing. Mastery argues through blend. Sherry Cask argues through provenance. Each chapter does something the last did not, which is why the collection earns a place on a shelf rather than reading as three variations on one idea.
