Released in 2020 to mark two hundred years since John Walker began blending in his Kilmarnock grocery, this limited edition carries the familiar Blue Label profile inside a bottle redesigned to trace the brand's journey — the cities, landmarks, and cultural touchpoints that shaped its passage from a single Scottish shop to a global name. It is one of four bicentenary releases, alongside Legendary Eight, the Celebratory Blend, and the Bicentenary Blend.

Bottled at 40% ABV, it retains the depth, smoothness, and quiet smokiness that have defined Blue Label since its introduction in 1992 — a bottle intended as much for the shelf as for the glass.

Tasting Notes

Nose: Wood smoke and wild honey, with dried prunes, vanilla, and a trace of orange zest.

Palate: Velvet-textured, layered with dark chocolate, hazelnut, ginger, dried fruit, and warm baking spice.

Finish: Long and warming, closing on European spice, oak tannin, and a soft final trace of smoke.

On the 200th Anniversary Edition

This release sits at the intersection of milestone and scarcity. Produced as a one-off run tied specifically to the anniversary, it was never intended for ongoing distribution — once retail allocations are gone, they are gone. That production ceiling, paired with the anniversary's historical weight, is what tends to draw sustained interest from collectors rather than casual buyers.

The liquid itself remains classic Blue Label: old, delicate grain whiskies balanced against more complex, smoke-driven malts, blended under the same house style Blue Label has carried since its 1992 launch. The presentation — book-style packaging wrapped in artwork referencing the brand's global history — is built for display as much as for opening.

About Johnnie Walker

Johnnie Walker's story begins in 1820, when a young grocer in Kilmarnock started blending single malts to keep flavour consistent from batch to batch. What followed — the square bottle (designed to survive long sea voyages without breaking), the slanted label, the Striding Man — became some of the most recognised design cues in spirits. The house, now owned by Diageo, holds some of the largest reserves of maturing Scotch in the world, drawn from across Scotland's whisky-producing regions, which it uses to construct its colour-coded range. From the everyday accessibility of Red and Black Label to the rarefied territory of Blue Label, Johnnie Walker remains the reference point most other blends are still measured against.
