Archie Rose Ironbark Smoked Rye Malt Whisky is the second limited-edition whisky in the experimental Archie Rose Concepts series. Bottled at 40% alc/vol, this 2019 release was crafted from seven casks and showcases a highly innovative production method using smoked water created by melting ice blocks in a wood-fired oven using sustainably sourced NSW ironbark.

Master Distiller Dave Withers explored how different quantities of smoked water interact with whisky at various alcoholic strengths, ultimately choosing a lower-than-usual 40% ABV to highlight delicate water-soluble smoke characteristics. The whisky is released flocked and completely unfiltered, retaining its natural haze and char remnants—an intentional challenge to traditional filtration norms and a statement on flavour authenticity.

Only 1,197 bottles were produced, with this specific bottle numbered 493, making it a rare collector’s item within one of Australia’s most innovative whisky ranges.
