Glenfiddich 16 Year Old Aston Martin F1 Edition 2 is a limited-edition Speyside single malt Scotch whisky, the second annual release in the Glenfiddich and Aston Martin Formula One Team partnership, bottled at 43% ABV in a 700ml bottle. Where the first release used three American oak casks, Malt Master Brian Kinsman built this one from five: first-fill bourbon barrels, Port pipes, Oloroso sherry casks, wine casks and a final touch of Fino sherry butts. The result is rich stewed fruit, floral top notes, marzipan and polished leather, with a mellow, silky palate of buttery toffee and caramelised cane sugar, presented in wind tunnel-inspired packaging.

Glenfiddich 16 Year Old Aston Martin F1 Edition Tasting Notes.

Nose: Rich stewed fruits with a beautiful array of floral top notes, and hints of marzipan, polished leather and ripe orchard fruit.
Palate: Mellow and silky smooth, with creamy, buttery toffee sweetness, caramelised cane sugar and dry oak tannin.
Finish: Long-lasting oaky sweetness, closing with gentle spice.

Why Choose Glenfiddich 16 Year Old Aston Martin F1 Edition ?

This release is a genuine reformulation rather than a repeat of the first bottling. Kinsman expanded the maturation from three cask types to five, adding Port pipes and Fino sherry butts for the first time, which gives the whisky a richer, drier and more structured backbone while keeping Glenfiddich’s signature orchard-fruit character at its core. The concept ties back to the partnership itself: Kinsman has compared the layering of five casks to the hundreds of small, hidden decisions behind every Aston Martin F1 car, where the art lies in bringing individual elements together so the whole feels perfectly balanced. As the second annual bottling in a multi-year collaboration announced in November 2024, it is positioned as a rare combination of a well-aged 16 year old, a five-cask recipe and an accessible price. Reviewers have called the cask recipe more convincing than the badge-swapping common in motorsport tie-ins. Note that a separate, travel-retail-exclusive 19 Year Old was released alongside it, so this 16 Year Old is the version aimed at general retail. It suits Glenfiddich fans, Formula One followers and collectors who bought Release No. 1 and want to compare the two.

Glenfiddich Distillery

Glenfiddich, meaning "Valley of the Deer" in Gaelic, was founded in 1886 by William Grant in Dufftown, Speyside, and remains family-owned by William Grant & Sons to this day. One of the best-selling single malt Scotch whiskies in the world, Glenfiddich has built its reputation over nearly 140 years on the same site, with every release signed off by Malt Master Brian Kinsman, who has held the role since 2009. In November 2024, Glenfiddich became the official whisky partner of the Aston Martin Aramco Formula One Team, launching a multi-year collaboration spanning limited-edition releases, F1-themed events and shared branding across both the whisky and the racing team.
