The Lark Brokenwood Graveyard Shiraz Rare Cask 2021 is the third release in Lark’s acclaimed Rare Cask Series and one of the distillery’s most sought-after collaborations. Limited to just 505 bottles, this single malt was first matured at Lark’s Coal Valley Distillery and then finished in two casks that previously held Brokenwood’s iconic Graveyard Vineyard Shiraz from the Hunter Valley. Bottled at 51% ABV, it unites Tasmanian single malt richness with the depth, spice, and vibrancy of Australia’s most celebrated shiraz.

This particular example is bottle 420 of 505.

Lark Brokenwood Graveyard Shiraz Tasting Notes

Nose: A deeply concentrated, magnificent bouquet breaking open with luxurious layers of ripe blackcurrants, red cherry compote, sweet vanilla bean paste, and a sophisticated layer of cedarwood and white pepper.

Palate: An incredibly thick, velvety, and full-bodied texture that coats the mouth with balanced layers of dark chocolate ganache, stewed mulberries, spiced plum pudding, and an unmistakable, oil-heavy malt weight.

Finish: Impossibly long, grand, and warming, leaving behind a persistent undernote of complex wine-cask tannins, lingering berry oils, and a final, memorable hint of drying pepper-leaf tobacco.

Why Add Lark Brokenwood Graveyard Shiraz To Your Collection?

High-net-worth single malt investors and serious world spirits collectors target the Brokenwood Graveyard Shiraz release because it captures a non-repeatable wood pedigree that modern assembly lines can never replicate. Brokenwood's single-vineyard Graveyard Shiraz barrels are universally recognized as an absolute crown jewel of the Hunter Valley, celebrated for their exceptional structural iron-fist elegance and fine-grained French oak tannins. To prevent this incredibly intense, wine-soaked timber from overwhelming the spirit, the blending team managed a painstaking multi-batch extraction process. The result is an incredibly dense, complex texture that yields massive secondary market collector value, while the inclusion of the 100ml taster lets you sample the luxurious liquid without disturbing the main 700ml asset.
