The Balvenie French Oak 16 Year Old is a distinguished Speyside single malt scotch whisky, expertly finished in casks that previously held Pineau des Charentes, a French fortified wine. This rare cask finishing enhances the whisky’s rich fruitiness and delicate floral notes, creating a complex and elegant dram.
Crafted with The Balvenie’s signature dedication to innovation and tradition, this whisky balances classic Speyside sweetness with the vibrant influence of French oak. Best enjoyed neat to appreciate its full depth, or with a drop of water to unlock even more flavour complexity.
Nose: Aromas of ripe red apples, sweet grapes, fresh flowers, vanilla, and honey.
Palate: Pear, apricot, and honeyed almonds, with delicate spice.
Finish: Long and satisfying with lingering fruit, oak spice, and creamy vanilla.
This innovative yet refined single malt offers a rare French oak finish, delivering a vibrant fruit-forward profile that stands out among aged Speyside whiskies—a must-try for collectors and whisky lovers alike.
The Balvenie is one of the few distilleries that still uses tradition whisky-making craftmanship. The distillery still grows its own barley, uses traditional floor maltings and keeps both a Coppersmith and a team of Coopers on site. Additionally, it’s known for cask finishing—especially in rum, sherry, and port barrels. This approach creates rich, layered single malts with honeyed and fruity notes.
