That title was won by an earlier single cask; each Solist release is a separate cask. The range has since won Double Gold at the San Francisco World Spirits Competition in 2023 and 2025, and Gold in 2024. Kavalan recommends drinking it neat.

What Makes Kavalan Distillery Unique?

Kavalan Distillery is in Yilan, in north-eastern Taiwan. Its whiskies mature in a humid climate, which shapes how the spirit and the cask interact and contributes to the range's tropical fruit character. The distillery has also developed its own S.T.R. technique (shave, toast, rechar) to refresh wine casks, and its single malts have earned consistent recognition at international competitions.

https://whisky.estate/products/kavalan-solist-vinho-barrique-single-cask-strength-single-malt-taiwanese-whisky
