Distilled on 6 August 2015 and bottled at natural cask strength, this 6-year-old Taiwanese single malt is part of the Scotch Malt Whisky Society’s limited single cask releases. Drawn from a 1st fill ex-bourbon barrel, it reflects both the rapid tropical maturation unique to Taiwan and the experimental cask approach of Distillery 138.
SMWS Cask No. 138.13 Come Eat Me With a Spoon Tasting Notes
Nose: Spiced rosewater, red chilli, treacle pudding and red liquorice, with notes of passionflower, nutmeg, exotic fruit teas, and honey. With water, peaches and cream, molten marshmallow, leather, and precious hardwoods emerge.
Palate: Superb richness and texture, with runny honey, barley sugars, dessert wines, custard and marzipan. Adding water brings banana bread, cough medicine, fruit syrups, bubble-gum, and tropical fruit salad.
Finish: Sweet, layered, and lingering with herbs, pollens, and a subtle medicinal edge.
