Sagamore Double Oak Rye Whiskey is a distinctive Maryland-style rye, aged first in high-char new American oak barrels for 4-5 years, then finished for 18 months in toasted wave stave barrels. This unique double-oaking process imparts rich flavours of caramel, toasted coconut, and toffee, enhanced by limestone-filtered spring water.
Nose: Rich aromas of caramel, toasted coconut, and warm toffee with a hint of hazelnut.
Palate: A smooth and full bodied experience with layers of caramelised sugar, creamy toffee, and a subtle nutty undertone.
Finish: Long and satisfying, featuring lingering notes of toasted coconut and a gentle touch of spice.
If you’re interested in exploring a rye with a unique profile, Sagamore Double Oak is a great option. They use a double-oaking process, which essentially means it’s aged twice, resulting in a really enjoyable blend of caramel, toasted coconut, and toffee notes. The limestone-filtered water they use also contributes to a noticeably smooth finish. If you typically enjoy sipping rye and are looking for something with a touch of sweetness and a warm, toasted character, this is a solid choice. It’s a well-crafted whiskey that offers a distinct and satisfying experience without being overly complicated. It’s simply a very good Maryland rye.
