Kilkerran 12 Year Old Single Malt Scotch Whisky
Kilkerran 12 Year Old is a lightly peated Campbeltown single malt matured for 12 years and bottled at 46% ABV. Produced at the revived Glengyle Distillery, this non-chill-filtered and naturally coloured whisky captures the essence of traditional Campbeltown craftsmanship. First released in 2016, it offers a perfect balance of sweetness, salinity, and gentle smoke — a true reflection of the region’s maritime character.
Kilkerran 12 Year Old Tasting Notes
Nose: Sweet confectionery, Turkish delight, pear drops, and marzipan, layered with toasted marshmallows and soft peat smoke.
Palate: Zesty citrus and lemon cheesecake meet an oily texture, developing into leather, cracked pepper, and sticky toffee pudding.
Finish: Lingering campfire smoke with notes of sweet pecan pie and creamy butterscotch.
Why Choose Kilkerran 12 Year Old?
As the flagship release from the reborn Glengyle Distillery, Kilkerran 12 Year Old represents both history and revival. Its combination of coastal influence, delicate peat, and rich sweetness makes it a standout Campbeltown malt — authentic, characterful, and deeply satisfying. For collectors and enthusiasts alike, it’s a must-have expression that embodies the spirit of Scotland’s smallest whisky region.
What Makes the Glengyle Distillery Unique?
Founded in 1872 by William Mitchell, Glengyle Distillery closed in 1925 and remained silent for more than 75 years. In 2000, Hedley Wright — Mitchell’s great-great-nephew and owner of Springbank — restored the site, and production resumed in 2004 under the Kilkerran name. Today, Glengyle continues the proud Mitchell family legacy, crafting whiskies by hand that celebrate Campbeltown’s enduring whisky heritage.
