Cadenhead’s Chairman’s Stock 1969 30 Years Old Dumbarton Inverleven Stills
A rare piece of Lowland history, this inaugural Chairman’s Stock bottling from Cadenhead’s was distilled in 1969 on the Inverleven pot stills within the Dumbarton complex and bottled in February 2000 at natural cask strength. Drawn from a single ex-bourbon hogshead and limited to just 150 bottles, it captures a long-vanished malt style from a now-silent site—elegant, fruit-led, and beautifully mature.
Inverleven Distillery
Inverleven was the small malt distillery housed inside the larger Dumbarton grain distillery in Dumbarton, Lowlands. Installed in 1938 and mothballed in 1991 (with the wider complex later closed), Inverleven’s gentle, orchard-fruited spirit became a cult favorite among independent bottlers. The site is gone, making authentic Inverleven-still malt increasingly scarce and collectible.
Cadenhead’s Chairman’s Stock Tasting Notes
Nose: Ripe orchard fruits (pear, apple), vanilla fondant, honey, lemon zest, soft coconut, polished oak.
Palate: Silky and mature—waxed apples, crème anglaise, citrus oils, almond, white pepper, gentle mint over sweet malt.
Finish: Long, clean, and graceful with lingering vanilla, citrus peel, and fine oak spice.
