Matured in new American oak and ex-bourbon casks, then transferred to first-fill Portuguese Port pipes before a final finish in ex-bourbon, Amrut Portonova is a cask strength single malt whisky from India. Crafted at high altitude in Bangalore using Himalayan-grown barley, this complex release showcases the distillery’s innovation in maturation and flavour development.
Amrut Distillery
Amrut Distillery, founded in 1948, pioneered Indian single malt whisky and released India’s first single malt in 2004. Located in Bangalore, the distillery ages its whiskies at over 3,000 feet above sea level, accelerating maturation and creating bold, flavourful spirits. Amrut sources barley from the foothills of the Himalayas and distils using traditional pot still methods.
