Amrut Distilleries, the pioneers of Indian single malt whisky, craft this bold cask strength expression using Himalayan barley and Scottish peat. Named after the Sanskrit word for “nectar of the gods,” Amrut Peated Cask Strength matures in Bangalore’s high-altitude climate, where rapid ageing intensifies its complexity. With up to 15% angel’s share loss annually, this unfiltered, high-proof whisky delivers an amplified, full-bodied peated experience.
Nose: Intense peat smoke with maritime brine, charred oak, salted butter, and a hint of black pepper.
Palate: Explosive smoky richness layered with dark chocolate, roasted coffee, warm spices, and sweet malt. A touch of citrus and vanilla adds depth.
Finish: Long, intense, and smoky, with lingering notes of earthy peat, spice, and dark cocoa.

This whisky offers an uncompromising peated experience, balancing deep smokiness with rich complexity. Its cask strength nature amplifies every nuance, making it a must-try for those who crave bold, unadulterated peat power.
Amrut Distillery, founded in 1948 in Bangalore, helped launch Indian single malt onto the global stage. Before Amrut, most Indian whisky used molasses and didn’t meet international standards. In contrast, Amrut used Indian-grown barley and matured its spirit in oak casks—just like traditional single malts.
What makes Amrut unique is its climate. Located at a high altitude with tropical heat, the distillery sees whisky mature faster. As a result, its malts develop intense, rich flavours in just a few years.
Since its first global release in 2004, Amrut has built a strong portfolio. Core expressions like Amrut Indian Single Malt offer classic barley notes. Meanwhile, Amrut Fusion blends Indian and Scottish barley for a bold, smoky profile. Then there’s Triparva, India’s first triple-distilled single malt—showcasing their ongoing innovation.
In short, Amrut combines tradition, climate, and creativity to stand as a true pioneer in world whisky.
